After graduating with first class honours, Kate has earned a promotion at one of the UK’s largest car manufacturers, Nissan. Joining the car giant at age 19 on a trainee programme, ambitious Kate was keen to progress and saw a degree as the ideal way to do this.
Kate said: “I’d always wanted to study a degree and thought it’d be the best way to climb up the career ladder. But I was looking for a course that was more than just theory, I needed something that I could apply directly to my job.”
Studying the degree around her work commitments, Kate found the programme to be flexible and relevant to her role. Kate added “I used Nissan as the basis for my dissertation, so I was able to suggest
improvements and different ways of working. Being able to apply my knowledge to my role was not only a great way for me to learn, but it was a great benefit to the business as well.”
“I had a really positive experience at the college, the teachers were extremely supportive and understood that the programme needed to be flexible to fit around my job. When I was promoted, I had much more responsibility and worked on bigger projects. The degree definitely helped me to cope with the increased workload and extra pressure.”
Looking to the future, Kate is excited about progressing her career at Nissan and is working towards securing a Controller position.
