Jesmond Dene House are looking to recruit a Commis Chef to support the Head Chef in their busy kitchen. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with passion and determination to join a successful team.
Training to be provided: You will work towards the Level 2 Professional Cookery apprenticeship along with the level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship standard with Gateshead College
Functional skills Maths, English and IT, if required
Full training will be provided in all aspects of kitchen duties such as stock rotation, working to safe practices and cooking to a high standard. There will be the chance to learn butchery, fishmongery and pastry.
Expected course duration: 2 years
Number of hours: 30 hours
Working pattern: Hours to be confirmed at interview
Salary: £150.00 per week
Assisting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a hotel kitchen environment, offering food for all occasions, and giving them the opportunity to learn a variety of skills (they will have the chance to work not only in the main kitchen but also in our pastry and conference and banqueting sections).
Daily duties to include:
To assist the head chef in the day to day running of the kitchen
To work to safe and legal practices
To ensure the high standards are always kept
To ensure all products entering and leaving the kitchens are to the set Jesmond Dene House standards
To track, replenish and keep in date order, the stock holding
To be pro-active in all actions and tasks set for you
