The opportunity has arisen at for the right candidate to join this exciting team and organisation, as a Business Administration apprentice.

Training to be provided:

You will work towards a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Business Administration with Gateshead College and functional skills Maths, English and IT, if required Expected course duration: 12months

Number of hours: 37.5 hours per week Working pattern: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm

Salary: £150 per week

Job description:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reception duties – Answering and directing calls, looking after visitors, processing mail and deliveries, coordination of facility inspections and H&S inspections, maintenance of office supplies, management of cleaning schedule

  • Secretarial duties – Client communications, document preparation, generation of key reports, score card management, meeting preparation and minutes, catering, travel and accommodation booking, production of itineraries, PA support to the directors

  • Project office support – Record keeping, scheduling support, support with key document generation, coordinate project communications schedule

  • HR support – Employee letters, pay queries, expenses queries, policy updates and reading lists, maintenance of the staff handbook, coordination of inductions

  • Finance support – invoice generation and follow up, coordination of purchases and receipts, assistance with supplier management, assistance with other financial activities

  • Any other activities congruent with skill set and company need


Desired skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Able to work with Excel predefined formulae.

  • Able to work with tables, formatting and ad hoc styles.

  • Able to use save dialogue or print dialogue, including changing the file format.

  • Confident in general operation of computers i.e. can use email, generate and manage files, understand document types (.docs, .pdf, .eml etc) and can safely navigate the internet.

  • Confident in using previously unseen software.

    Personal qualities:

  • Good communicator with proven written and oral skills, able to interact with clients, suppliers and colleagues in a professional manner.

  • Able to use intelligence and common sense to solve simple problems and coordinate activity, whilst knowing when to escalate issues.

  • Able to work on several different activities concurrently, balancing deadlines and priorities (sometimes conflicting) and identifying and escalating risks in a timely manner

  • Self-motivating, driven by results, uses own initiative and is willing to undertake challenges and personal development, and to adapt to change

Qualifications required

GCSEs grade A-C must include Maths, English and ICT
