A brilliant opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to work in a thriving hair salon in Newcastle. This City Centre salon is a busy place to work and an excellent chance to shadow experienced hairdressers.

Training to be provided:

You will work towards a Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals with Gateshead College and functional skills Maths and English, if required.

Expected course duration: 18 months

Number of hours: 30 hours

Working pattern: Apprentice working hours to be confirmed at interview. Day release at Gateshead College on a Monday

Salary: £117.00 per week

Job description:

The Junior Assistant role provides end to end support to any member of staff within the salon. Taking full advantage of shadowing experienced stylist within a modern and thriving business. The applicant is to support salon staff with services and contribute to providing outstanding customer experience. 

  • Shadowing and observing experienced stylist to get a real taste of the industry and pick up best practice

  • To take appointments via telephone and using computer based booking system if applicable

  • Taking customer calls and providing a high standard of customer service

  • Responsible for greeting customers in a confident and professional manner

  • Engage with customers, provide beverages, magazines and to overall look after customers to ensure an outstanding customer experience

  • Ensuring that the salon is kept clean and tidy at all times

  • Support staff with inventory and placing orders of stock

  • Basic colours and cuts when ready and confident

    Qualifications required

  • Maths and English GCSEs (grade C/$ or above)

  • If successfully selected for interview all applicants will complete initial assessments in English and mathematics

    Possible Start date August 2019
